Happy Moments Sculpture Exhibition at Harbour City

New Delhi: Our childhood memories are the foundation of happy moments in our lives while playgrounds play a big part in creating those happy childhood memories. Korean artist Kim Gyung-Min displays Large-scale sculptures at Harbour City till June 2, 2014 allowing everyone to indulge in a fun-filled day outdoors alongside inspiring art works.

Inspired by the precious moments of family life, these colourful figurative sculptures are the signature works of Kim. A pair of 4-meter-tall giant sculptures will be displayed in the Ocean Terminal Forecourt, 10 desktop-size works will be showcased at Gallery by the Harbour, and 5 life-size works will be displayed in the Office Lobbies of The Gateway in Harbour City.
Happy Moments Sculpture Exhibition focuses on depicting everyday-life scenes of an ordinary family. The main highlight of the exhibition is the pair of giant 4-meter-tall sculptures, namely "Good-morning!" and "Grocery Shopping", which respectively depict the scenes of a father going to work and a mother doing grocery shopping for her family. Situated in the bustling open space, the two characters are made to remind everyone to enjoy everyday life with positive energy.
Kim Gyung-Min finds inspirations from everyday happenings at home, she creates sculptures showing a father on his way to work, a mother carrying her family on her shoulders and a family going to the beach. Through her new perspectives, she recreates those mundane moments that we pass by unnoticed. Reflecting the optimism of the artist, the figurative works emit positive energy and arouse genuine interest with her unique presentation and depiction of characteristics. Also, the facial expression and the body gesture of her sculptures create a feeling of déjà vu, drawing the viewer further into the stories of the family presented at the exhibition space. Kim Gyung Min's easily understandable sculptures evoke humor and a sense of universality that captures the eyes of contemporaries. The artist wishes to convey warmth and healing with her work to modern people who cannot easily open up to others. Her works also carry the message that a balance among family members is essential for family peace.
