New DELHI: The best of avant-garde international art as Vadehra Art Gallery features, for the first time in India, the work of the legendary Yoko Ono. Her role as an artist, musician and filmmaker, connected to the internationally active Fluxus movement of the sixties, is of great significance to the art world.

Vadehra Art Gallery is committed to showcasing the best of international art in India and has held exhibitions of artists Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, Lucian Freud and Bernd and Hilla Becher in the past. In January 2012 the Gallery showcases the work of the iconic conceptual artist Yoko Ono. Titled Our Beautiful Daughters the exhibition is being held at Vadehra Art Gallery’s Okhla space, includes interventions at various venues in the city. There will also be a parallel exhibition titled The Seeds at the Gallery’s new Defence Colony space.

Yoko Ono has always been committed to exploring the experiences of women and is creating a special new installation for India that engages the audience and shed light on some of the challenges women face today. Apart from this latest installation, the exhibition recalls some of her legendary instruction-based works.

The parallel exhibition titled The Seeds showcases some of Yoko Ono’s earlier work along with historical documentation of performances and installations to present a composite picture of her longstanding artistic career and commitment to peace.
